CASE STUDY: SLASHWORK
I currently lead product and brand design for Slashwork, a revolutionary AI-first work communications platform. I created a multi-theme design system, built a custom Figma library, and have designed every aspect of the platform across desktop and mobile – including the introduction of an AI-aggregated notification system and re-imagining how work comms should evolve into the AI era. I also wear many other hats: I design and write content for our marketing website, run our ad campaigns, contribute to strategy, and help implement front-end development via Claude Code across our website and platform.
a sleek, versitile ui
I built the design system around customisability: The UI functions as a translucent skin. All the cards are built up of shades of light or dark (depending on light mode/dark mode), and utilise background blur and shadows so that the colours set in the background seep through every element. This allows maximal customisability in the simplest possible way.
figma Library and MCP
I created a custom Figma library from scratch, containing hundreds of components and a light and dark mode that were optimised to be legible over any colour background. Beyond colour customisability, I wanted it to be as clean and future-looking as possible without being boring, and in plain light/dark mode to still be visually interesting when the only colour came from the content users were posting. To support our UI engineer, I also set up Figma’s MCP with Claude Code and am currently in the process of updating our platform to the new UI.
Re-imagining workplace comms for the AI era
Building a workplace comms tool from the ground up gave us the opportunity to reimagine how communication at work might change as AI advances. It allowed us to build a really powerful semantic search, auto-translation capabilities for companies working across language barriers, and a revolutionary new notifications experience.
